When you open the Collabwriting extension and click the small gear icon (⚙️) in the top right corner, you’ll open Settings - this is where you can customize how the extension works for you.
Open on Startup
Choose what opens by default when you launch the Collabwriting extension.
Under Open on Startup, you can choose what the extension should open by default:
Inbox - Opens your Inbox, a quick-drop space where you can save snippets instantly and organize them later.
My Last Viewed Topic - Reopens the last topic you were working on, helping you pick up right where you left off.
Newest Topic on this Link - Opens the most recently created Topic for the current page, or if none exists, it opens the oldest one available.
This way, you can set up the extension to match your workflow and save time.
General preferences
Other things you can customize:
Open panel on the right - choose if you want the extension to open on the right or the left side of your screen.
Keep open on every page - if enabled, the extension will stay open on every webpage you visit.
Hide the highlighter button - decide whether the highlighter button should pop up every time you highlight something. Having this option on is useful during deep research for faster insight collection
Add cards to the bottom - Select if you want your snippets to be added at the bottom of the list or the top. This will be replicated in how they're seen in the Dashboard.
Focus Bookmark on Startup - It's a preference that will automatically highlight your bookmark snippet when you open the extension on that topic (if a bookmark exists). Helpful if there are general notes to keep in mind on a certain topic, document, or video.
Show All Highlights - When this option is turned on, all your created highlights will appear directly on the webpage as you browse.
Experimental Features
Turning on Experimental Features gives you early access to tools we’re still testing, including:
Resize Page - Adjust how the extension panel fits your screen.
Most Highlighted - Turning on this preference lets you see which parts of a page other Collabwriting users have highlighted the most. This gives you a quick overview of key content, helping you focus on the most valuable information right away.
